 Chornohirskyy Massif (Hutsulschyna)
Ethnografic walking trip
Duration: 5 days
   AVAILABILITY: May - October Hutsul region is the most vivid Carpathian one in Ukraine. It is located inner the highest Ukrainian mountain ranges and it has preserved archaic ways of life and culture of its inhabitants – Hutsuls: peculiar types of wooden architecture (esp. that of churches), traditional Hutsul crafts: carving, metal processing, wool clothes, fiery music and songs (kolomyyky), ornamental patterns of local clothing. Tour 1st day. Meeting the group. Transfer to National Reserve “Davniy Halych” (“Ancient Halych”). Transfer to Yaremche. Walking tour and visiting Probiy Waterfall, hutsul crafts market and Dovbush Rocks. Arriving at the tourist centre. Dinner. Rest-time. 2nd day. Chornohirskyy Range (duration: 9 hours). Breakfast. Transfer to Hoverla foot, Turkul mountain, Nesamovyte Lake, Pozhyzhevska mountain valley, “Zaroslyak” sport centre (duration: 10 hours). In case of bad weather conditions – only Hoverla hiking (duration: 5 hours). Viewing the highest mountain range of Ukraine – Chornohora, Svydovets, Gorgany. You will also see the remains of Polish-Slovak border that was there in the first half of the XX century. Returning to the tourist centre. Dinner. 3rd day. Pysanyy Kamin Rock (duration: 5-6 hours). Breakfast. Transfer to Bukovets mountain pass – Kopilash mountain to Pysanyy Kamin. On our way we may observe typical Hutsul houses, covered by “hont” (shaped wooden tables that are used as tiles). After the rest near the rocks – going down to the village, well-known for its craftsmen and “bokorashi” (people that were floating the wood down Cheremosh River). Visiting grazhda (archaic building used for defensive purposes) and Ivan Franko museum. Returning to the tourist centre. Dinner. Rest time. 4th day. Chornohirsky Range (duration: 10 hours). Breakfast. Crossing valley of Chorny Cheremosh River. Ascent of one of the highest mountains – Pip Ivan. Visiting of pre-war observatory “White Elephant”. Viewing Romanian Carpathian Range and crystal massif of Marmorsk Alpes. There are some evidence left after World War I. Then crossing: Vukhatyy Kamin – Pip Ivan – Smotrych mountain range. Returning to the tourist centre. Dinner. Rest time. 5th day. Walking tour day. Breakfast. Leaving the tourist centre. Transfer to Kolomyya. Visiting Hutsul and Pokuttya museums. Transfer to Ivano-Frankivsk. End of the tour. Ethnografic walking trip
  
AVAILABILITY: May – mid October This is the area where ethnic group called Boyky live. It is well-known for its peculiar wooden church and house architecture. The tour envisages visiting of Shepit and Voyevodyna waterfalls, Dnister River spring, rocky area of Urych, ancient fortress Tustan. Tour 1st day. Rozlucha mountain range (duration: 5 hours). Meeting of the group in Lviv. Transfer to the Carpathians. Crossing Rozlucha mountain range and visiting the place where Dnister starts. Transfer to Volovets for passing the night. Dinner. Rest time. 2nd day. Bukovska Polonyna mountain range (duration: 5-6 hours). Breakfast. Climbing Pikuy mountain. Crossing to Bilasovytsi. Transfer to Volovets. Dinner. Rest time. 3rd day. Borzhava mountain range (duration: 8-9 hours). Breakfast. Climbing the highest peaks of Borzhava – Stiy and Velyky Verkh mountains, 1681m and 1598 m respectively. On the way – visiting a typical shepherd’s cottage where you will taste traditional cheese sorts. Returning to Volovets. Dinner. Rest time. 4th day. Polonyna Rivna mountain range (duration: 8-9 hours). Breakfast. Visiting Voyevodyna waterfalls. Climbing the highest peak – Polonyna Rivna mountain (1681m). Crossing to Lumshory. Transfer to Volovets. Dinner. Rest time. 5th day. Skolivski Beskydy (duration: 5-6 hours). Breakfast. Leaving the tourist centre. Crossing Skole – Parashka mountain (1681m) area. Transfer to Urych village. Visiting a unique fortress Tustan. Transfer to Lviv. End of the tour.   1st day. Meeting the group in Ivano-Frankivsk. Walking tour to “Davniy Halych” National Reservation. Transfer to the Carpathians. Visiting Yaremche, Probiy waterfall, Hutsul market. Transfer to Vorokhta. On the way there – observing architectural buildings of the Hutsuls. Satying in the tourist centre for a night. Dinner. Rest time. 2nd day. Breakfast. Transfer to Hoverla foot. Climbing Hoverla – the highest peak in Ukraine. You will also see the remains of Polish-Slovak border that was there in the first half of the XX century*. Returning to the tourist centre in Vorokhta. Dinner. Rest time. *In case of bad weather – tour to ski jumps, ropeway. For those who wish – a walk to the mountains. 3rd day. Breakfast. Leaving the tourist centre. Transfer to Yaremche. Pishkonya mountain range (Zakarpattya region). Breakfast. Visiting wooden churches in Kolochava area. Crossing Pishkonya mountain range (Nehrovets mountain – 1600m), visiting Synevir Lake. Dinner. Staying for the night. 6th day. Walking tours (Ivano-Frankivsk region). Visiting wooden churches, Skyt Manyavsky, Probiy waterfall, the Dovbush Rocks and Hutsul crafts market. Dinner. Staying for the night. 7th day. Chornohora mountain range (Ivano-Frankivsk region). Crossing Chornohora mountain range: Hoverla (the highest peak of Ukraine – 2061m) – Turka – Nesamovyte Lake – Pozhyzhevska mountain valley. Getting to the tourist camp “Zaroslyak”. Dinner. Staying for the night. 8th day. Chornohora mountain range (Ivano-Frankivsk region). Crossing valley of Chorny Cheremosh River. Ascent of one of the highest mountains – Pip Ivan (2020m). Visiting of pre-war observatory “White Elephant”, Vukhatyy Kamin mountain, Smotrych mountain. Dinner. Staying for the night. 9th day. Hrynyavska Valley mountain range (Ivano-Frankivsk region). Breakfast. Crossing the highest peaks of this range. Dinner. Transfer to the place of staying for the night. 10th day. Pysanyy Kamin Rock. Breakfast. Bukovets mountain pass, Kopilash mountain crossing, Pysanyy Kamin rock, Verkhniy Yaseniv, Kryvorivnya. Visiting hrazhda (typical Hutsul hut) and Ivan Franko museum. Dinner. Staying for the night. 11th day. Ihrets mountain range. (Ivano-Frankivsk region). Breakfast. Bukovets mountain pass, Ihrets mountain range crossing. Dinner. Transfer to the place for staying for the night. 12th day. Walking tour (Ivano-Frankivsk region). Breakfast. Visiting Hutsul and Pokuttya museums in Kolomyya. End of the tour.
