Lviv is sometimes called ¨a museum under the open skies¨ due to its architectural heritage. As every big cultural centre Lviv presents a wide range of museums, most of which are located in historical part of the city. Entrance tickets are not expensive (from 2 UAH to 18 UAH per person) depending on the number of people (if it is a group) or the complexity of the excursion.

The Culture and Art Centre ¨Dzyga¨
 Virmenska, 35 Opening hours: 10.00 am – 6.00 pm daily The brightest cultural centre in Lviv. It was founded in 1997 and now it comprises gallery of modern art (where a lot of young artists can show their works), concert hall (120 seats), curiosity shop, ¨Under Klepsydra¨ cafe. Everyone who comes in Lviv never misses an opportunity to visit this wonderful place. Those who like alternative music visit cafe-club ¨Lyalka¨ (Danyla Halytskoho Sq., 1) that is also a part of Dzyga Centre.
MUSEUMS
Pharmacy Museum ¨Under Black Eagle¨
 Drukars´ka Str., 2 Opening hours: Mon-Sun – 10.00 am – 5.00 pm
This is the only operating pharmacy and museum at the same time in Ukraine, where you can buy not only medicines but also a bottle of famous ¨Zalizne vyno¨ (¨Iron Wine¨). Among the exhibit halls there are Trade Hall, Chemist´s Laboratory, Library (which totals more than more than 3000 books), Coctorij (special kitchen where by a method of thermal processing the medicines were made), Chemist´s Cellars.
Italian Yard (Royal Halls)
Rynok Sq.,6 Opening hours: 10.00 am – 5.30 pm Day off: Wednesday On the first floor there is an exposition of royal apartments where Polish king Jan III Sobiesky (1629-1696) had his residence. Apart from the exposition of these apartments, there is also an exhibition of unique clocks: the one with a thermometer, the picture-clock (Austria, XIX c.), naval clock (that shows year, season, month, day of the week and even signs of the zodiac). Moreover there is a throne of the Devil in the shape of the goat and a snake, a collection of orders, letters of Jan Sobesky, George Sand. There is a cafe in the patio, very much loved by the Lvivers and guests of the city.
The Museum of History of Religion
 Muzeyna Sq., 1 Opening hours: 10.00 am – 6.00 pm Day off – Monday The building itself is one of the best samples of Baroque architecture style in Lviv. The only one in Lviv night excursion is waiting for you – encounter with historic characters who will tell about himself or herself and the religious beliefs of various times. This excursion is available for groups of no less than 10 people. There are 10 exhibition halls and such unique displays as Ivan Fedorov Ostoh Bible (published in 1581) and St. Arontiy small chest of relics (XI c.), etc. Brewery Museum
 Kleparivs´ka Str., 18 Opening hours: 10.30 am – 6.00 pm Day off: Tuesday The only one brewery museum opened in Ukraine has been working since 2005. It is founded on the base of the oldest brewery in Ukraine - ¨Lvivs´ka Pyvovarnya¨ (¨Lviv Brewery¨). It exhibits old bottles of beer with stamped trade mark of the producer, beer mugs from different countries and of different styles, beer recipes of the XIX century, tasting of beer made by Lviv Brewery, etc.
Lychakiv Cemetery, Historical and Cultural Museum

Mechnikova Str., 33 Opening hours: Mon – Sun - 9.00 am – 5.00 pm This cemetery is sometimes called ¨the museum under the skies¨. It totals over 500 sculptures and headstones that are of the highest art value, those belonging to famous artists Vitver, Shimzer, Baronch; 11 registered memorials, among which there are graves of Polish Orlyat (1917-1918), UGA soldiers, etc. It has become a necropolis for prominent Ukrainians: I. Franko, S. Krushelnytska, S. Lyudkevych, I. Vilde, O. Novakivskyy, V. Ivasyuk. Numerous legends are known about the people buried there: an actress who died when she was to play her death on stage, a headstone with depicted dogs (that is very unusual for cemetries as a fact)... Find out more when you visit it! The Museum of Ethnography and Crafts Svobody Sq., 15 Opening hours: 11.00 am – 6.00 pm Day off: Monday Rich exposition of folk art: homespun carpets (XVII – XX cc.), national Ukrainian garments, Easter eggs (pysanky), folk toys, music instruments, furniture, porcelain from famous manufactures in Meisen, Berlin, Wien, etc. The most precious collection of clocks in Eastern Europe and the biggest one in Ukraine is exposed here. These clocks were made in Central and Western Europe in the period of XVI – XIX cc. (100 of them are exhibited).
Lviv Underground (Jesuit Church, The Church of Transfiguration, Pharmacy Museum) Opening hours: 11.00 am – 6.30 pm The most intriguing one is in Jesuit Church – here you will find out not only about the life of Lviv Jesuits, but also see various artefacts – household items, door locks, etc. The most mysterious things are connected with the tomb (XVIII c.) that was found there and the legend about the Black Monk, who is said to walk in the museum even nowadays. If you are lucky, you may see him yourself...
 The Museum of Sacral Baroque Sculpture of the XVIII c. named after I. Pinzel Mytna Sq., 2 Opening hours: 11.00 am – 4.00 pm Day off: Monday Pinzel is one of the most mysterious sculptures among the most gifted in the XVIII c. Nothing is known about his place of birth, where he studied, how he appeared to live in Galicia. The only thing known is that he (together with architect Bernard Meretyn and patron of art Mykola Pototskyy) created sculptures for numerous churches not only in Lviv (St. Goerge Cathedral) but also in Lviv region (Godovytsya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Gorodenka, Buchach, Monastyryska). In this museum you can observe the biggest collection of his works that survived till our times.
¨Arsenal¨ Weapons Museum
 Pidvalna Str., 5 Opening hours: 10.00 am – 5.30 pm Day off: Wednesday Since 1981 there is an exhibition of weapons samples from more than 30 countries of the world (Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, USA). Exposition is arranged in chronological order, according to the place of production and types of weapons. The Lviv Museum of National Architecture and Country (Shevchenkivsky Hay)
 Chernecha Hora Str., 1 Opening hours: 10.00 am – 6.00 pm Day off: Monday This is also a museum under the open skies; it is created according ethnographic principle. Samples of authentic wooden architecture are exposed here. Among them there are houses built in the middle of the XVIII century, household buildings (water mill, smithy, wind mill, etc. ). Six wooden churches are the pride of the whole museum. All this was transported here to show national culture and traditions to everyone who is interested.
