Thives, liers, adulterers and others were executed here. Cinnamon, ginger, raisins and lemons were sold here; people talked, bargain, gossiped and communicated in all the languages of the world there. Very few of Lvivers would not dream of living here. But that was available only for the privileged: there was a lack of land and the price for it in the centre was very high. Nevertheless if someone was lucky to obtain a piece of land there then he did not spare neither time nor money to get the best materials and the best masters-constructors to build and decorate magnificent houses, which all the neighbours would envy and the descendants would be proud of.
